Dr Nnenna Ifeanyi-Ajufo
Board Chair
Nnenna Ifeanyi-Ajufo is a Professor of Technology Law at the University of Bradford School Of Law. She is also a Technology and Human Rights Fellow at the Carr Centre for Human Rights Policy at Harvard University for the 2022-2023 academic session. Before joining the University of Bradford, she was an Associate Professor of Law, and the Head of Law at the School of Business and Law, Buckinghamshire New University, United Kingdom. Her teaching and research interests focus primarily on the intersection of law and technology, especially the governance of digital technologies, digital rights, and rule of law in cyberspace.
Nnenna is internationally recognised for her expertise in areas related to law and technology. She has also been actively involved in shaping academic and policy discourses on the governance of digital technologies. She was a member of the International Law Association Steering Committee on Digital Challenges for International Law. The Committee recently delivered a White Paper on Digital Challenges for International Law available at: Digital Challenges for International Law – Ila Paris 2023. She was recently appointed the Chair of the Cybercrime Working Group of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE) and is also a member of the Research Committee of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE). She is the Vice-Chairperson of the African Union Cyber Security Experts Group (AUCSEG) and has been actively involved in advising the African Union Commission (AUC) and African Member States on international, regional and national legal frameworks related to cybersecurity and rule of law in cyberspace, as well as promoting cyber governance in the region.
Nnenna has also been invited to address international organisations, heads of governments and events organised by various foreign ministries and governmental bodies. She presently serves as an African Union delegate to the United Nations Ad Hoc Committee to Elaborate a Comprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes and the United Nations Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) on ICTs. She has written for a range of research projects, journals and media publications, including engaging in various media conversations on issues related to the governance of digital technologies. She has also partnered with various organisations on the delivery of research projects and recently authored a commissioned mapping project on ‘Digital Financial Inclusion’ for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and also authored a commissioned report on the National cybercrime laws of Commonwealth Member States for the Commonwealth Secretariat, United Kingdom. She also serves on the editorial and advisory boards of various academic journals and organisations. She is a member of the Chatham House Cyber Capacity Building Advisory Group, a contributing editor for the ‘Directions’ of the Cyber Direct Project of the European Union Institute for Security Studies, a member of the editorial board of the Commonwealth Cybercrime Journal and a member of the advisory board of the African Journal of Legal Issues in Technology.
Nnenna has served as an expert or consultant for notable organisations such as the Chatham House, the Commonwealth, the African Union Commission and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). She is presently the lead consultant for the UNECA cybersecurity projects. She also served as a consultant for the Chatham House Africa and Asia-Pacific Programme on Digital Cooperation – 2021-2022. She was invited by the Commonwealth Secretary General to join an Election Pre-Assessment Mission on election technology and cybersecurity in 2022. She has been a recipient of various awards and fellowships. In 2020, she was named amongst 50 Individuals leading Legal Innovation in Africa at the Africa Legal Innovation Awards.
Hon. Andy Osei Okrah
Board Member
Mr. Andy Osei Okrah is a highly accomplished and multi-faceted professional with an impressive track record in various fields. Currently serving as the Director of the Ghana Forestry Commission Training Centre, he brings extensive expertise to the forestry sector. With a background in human resources, Mr. Okrah effectively manages and develops the skills of forestry personnel, contributing to the sustainable management of Ghana’s rich natural resources.
Mr. Okrah’s commitment to empowering the youth of Ghana is evident through his long-standing involvement in mentorship programs and skills empowerment initiatives. He has dedicated considerable time and effort to shaping the lives of young individuals, equipping them with the necessary tools and guidance to succeed. As a leadership coach, he has inspired and guided aspiring leaders, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
As the founder and executive director of the Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC), Mr. Okrah spearheads an organization that aims to provide opportunities and support for young professionals, fostering their active participation in national development. His visionary leadership and dedication have made a significant impact on the lives of countless young people.
Mr. Okrah’s contributions have been widely recognized, as evidenced by his impressive list of accolades. Notably, he was named among the 100 Africa’s Most Impactful Change Makers at the prestigious 2022 edition of the Humanitarian Global Awards. This recognition further underscores his commitment to making a difference in society.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Andy Osei Okrah served as a former Deputy Regional Minister for the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He is also an accomplished author, sharing his knowledge and insights through his written work.
With his diverse experiences, exceptional leadership skills, and commitment to youth empowerment, Mr. Andy Osei Okrah continues to be a driving force in Ghana’s sustainable development and a source of inspiration for future generations.
Dr. Yahaya Abdulai
Board Member & Executive Director
Dr. Yahaya Abdulai is a distinguished Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics professional currently serving as a lecturer at Tamale Technical University. With a PhD in Agricultural Economics, an MPhil in Agricultural and Resource Economics, and a BSc in Agricultural Technology, he brings a wealth of academic expertise to his roles.
Dr. Abdulai’s research interests lie at the intersection of environmental awareness, climate change, food security, and sustainable agriculture. His work focuses on developing innovative solutions to address the challenges facing Africa’s food systems in the context of climate change. As the Executive Director of the Institute of Climate and Environmental Governance (ICEG Africa), he leads the organization’s efforts in conducting cutting-edge research and advocating for policies that promote sustainable agricultural practices and enhance food security in the face of environmental challenges. In this role, he guides strategic initiatives, fosters partnerships, and drives the institute’s mission to address the interconnected issues of climate change and food systems across Africa.
As a consultant, he has worked with prestigious organizations such as German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation E.V. (DSIK), ZODA Consult, and Corus International. He has also contributed significantly to agricultural policy development in Ghana, focusing on supervising startups and training small-scale businesses and farmers in various aspects of business management and development, with an emphasis on sustainable and climate-resilient practices.
In addition to his academic and consultancy work, Dr. Abdulai is an entrepreneur, serving as the CEO of AY Farms, a successful agribusiness firm specializing in livestock production, particularly poultry. His practical experience in expanding his own business from 200 to 6000 chickens demonstrates his ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios while adhering to sustainable agricultural principles.
Dr. Abdulai’s diverse skill set, which includes proposal writing, data analysis, and project management, combined with his fluency in English and Dagbani with intermediate fluency in Twi, makes him a valuable asset in rural development contexts across Ghana. His commitment to sustainable agricultural practices, environmental conservation, and economic development positions him as a leading figure in Ghana’s agricultural sector, particularly in addressing the critical issues of climate change adaptation and food security.
Hamza Suhuyini, Esq.
Board Member
Hamza Suhuyini is a passionate policy advocate and Head of Research and Advocacy of ICEG.
He has significant experience in policy advocacy, formulation and implementation, having worked with the government of Ghana and the private sector. He served as Board Member of the Ghana Roadfund Management Board and was instrumental in the monitoring and evaluation of periodic and routine road maintenance by the various road agencies in Ghana. He also served as aide to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and subsequently the Minister for Roads and Highways of Ghana between 2014 and 2017.
As a national service requirement, Hamza worked with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation as Corporate affairs officer. Prior to this, he served as the National President of the National Union of Ghana students where he advocated for better educational standards in Ghana. He has worked with various organisations in the United Kingdom including the Climate change unit of the Scotland based Sociovestix Labs, a socially motivated enterprise.
His research interests includes, the political economy of ESG, resource governance and ESG governance frameworks.
Hamza Suhuyini was called to the Bar of England and Wales and holds an LLM(BPC) in Corporate Social Responsibility/ESG and Environmental law, and GDL in Law from the University of Law, London. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Greenhill College, Ghana, M.A in International Political Economy from King’s College, London, B.A in Political Science with Linguistics from the University of Ghana and Teachers Certificate ‘A’ in Education from Tamale College of Education, Ghana.
Cedric Dzelu
Board Member
Cedric Dzelu is a Global Climate Change Ambassador of the World YMCA, the oldest and largest NGO in the world in the business of empowering the youth by providing young people with space and giving them the voice to enable them to transform their communities.
He is currently the Director of Administration and Finance for the African Youth Commission which is a network of young people focused on working to achieve the Africa We Want, Agenda 2063. The focal person for Africa on a five-year climate change advocacy project funded by the Netherlands government. He is also serving as a Board Member of the Ghana Tennis Federation and the Executive Director of Hope Performance Tennis Inc, a sports foundation based in the United States having operations in Ghana with the mandate of empowering young people through the game of Tennis
Cedric Dzelu now walks in the footsteps of Max Thabiso Edkins as a World Bank Climate Change Ambassador with the ambitious task of providing leadership to young people and governments to confront their roles in addressing the climate crisis.
With over 11+ years of experience, his expertise meets perfectly at the intersection of Climate Change Advocacy, communication, community development, marketing, finance, writing, community service and volunteering. This coupled with other work experiences has afforded him the opportunity to learn, lead, manage resources and plan finances such that project objectives are met.
Cedric holds an MSc in Development Finance from the University of Ghana and a BSc in Marketing from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, (GIMPA).
Cedric is a trailblazer in youth leadership, climate change advocacy, sports administration, youth justice, youth empowerment, safe space, volunteerism and gender inequality. His service and achievement are evidence and examples for many to follow.
Cedric’s star shines on activities that seek to inspire positivity among young people to be drivers of change in their community. Cedric is an all-too-rare figure in today’s world where the quest for young people to be in the driver’s seat continues to be an increasing echo to many.
Cedric has carved for himself an imperishable niche as a grass root mobiliser and implementer who is able to cascade outcomes of high-level conferences to have meaningful impacts on ordinary people in their communities.
Dr. Gazali Issahaku
Board Member & Head of Climate Change & Food Security
Holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Kiel, Germany. A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Food Security and Climate Change of the University for Development Studies, with over eight years’ experience in teaching, skills development and research, as well as more than fifteen (15) research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
He served as a Post-Doctoral researcher with the Centre for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn and a member of the Scientific Group of UN Food Systems Summit. His research focuses on climate-smart agricultural technology adoption and impacts on welfare and other policy outcomes, including food and nutrition security, sustainable land management and environmental efficiency. Dr. Issahaku has worked in different projects, which sought to enhance water and energy security, as well as the provision of ecosystem services, and conservation agriculture. He was part of the research team that successfully implemented WACDEP and RESULTS projects in vulnerable communities, particularly in the Upper East and West regions of Ghana.
He is currently the socio-economist in the UDS Team of the SUSTIN-AFRICA project. He has also consulted for GIZ, Ghana, on the returning Expert project.
