Dr. Yahaya Abdulai
Executive Director
Dr. Yahaya Abdulai is a distinguished Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics professional currently serving as a lecturer at Tamale Technical University. With a PhD in Agricultural Economics, an MPhil in Agricultural and Resource Economics, and a BSc in Agricultural Technology, he brings a wealth of academic expertise to his roles.
Dr. Abdulai’s research interests lie at the intersection of environmental awareness, climate change, food security, and sustainable agriculture. His work focuses on developing innovative solutions to address the challenges facing Africa’s food systems in the context of climate change. As the Executive Director of the Institute of Climate and Environmental Governance (ICEG Africa), he leads the organization’s efforts in conducting cutting-edge research and advocating for policies that promote sustainable agricultural practices and enhance food security in the face of environmental challenges. In this role, he guides strategic initiatives, fosters partnerships, and drives the institute’s mission to address the interconnected issues of climate change and food systems across Africa.
As a consultant, he has worked with prestigious organizations such as German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation E.V. (DSIK), ZODA Consult, and Corus International. He has also contributed significantly to agricultural policy development in Ghana, focusing on supervising startups and training small-scale businesses and farmers in various aspects of business management and development, with an emphasis on sustainable and climate-resilient practices.
In addition to his academic and consultancy work, Dr. Abdulai is an entrepreneur, serving as the CEO of AY Farms, a successful agribusiness firm specializing in livestock production, particularly poultry. His practical experience in expanding his own business from 200 to 6000 chickens demonstrates his ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios while adhering to sustainable agricultural principles.
Dr. Abdulai’s diverse skill set, which includes proposal writing, data analysis, and project management, combined with his fluency in English and Dagbani with intermediate fluency in Twi, makes him a valuable asset in rural development contexts across Ghana. His commitment to sustainable agricultural practices, environmental conservation, and economic development positions him as a leading figure in Ghana’s agricultural sector, particularly in addressing the critical issues of climate change adaptation and food security.
Tom Bailey
Chief Operations Officer
Tom is an advocate in the UK and an aspiring barrister.
Tom’s practice covers a wide range of civil law matters. He represents clients on housing and commercial matters and personal injury settlements. He has represented a wide range of clients including the UK Secretary of State for Defence.
Tom is also an experienced public speaker. He has been a member of Toastmasters International for nearly 3 years. He currently serves as an Area Director, having previously acted as a Club President. These roles have enabled Tom to develop an international presence and influence as a motivational speaker.
Tom was brought up, and currently resides, in rural England. He is acutely aware of the impacts of large scale developments and industrial works and the pressures these can place on the economy and the quality of life in these areas.
Tom is a First Class law graduate and is due to be Called to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2023.
Randy Opoku-Afriyie
Head of Programs and Projects
Prince Randy Opoku-Afriyie has diverse working experience that cut across industries and Sectors. He has worked extensively in the areas of land Valuation and Appraisals in Kumasi and Konongo with the Land Valuation Board and as contract compensation valuer in Ahafo kenyasi with Newmont, later a political researcher, now into civil engineering and construction.
He is a founding member of the Asamoah Gyan Foundation and Gyan Investment Ghana Limited where he plays the role of Operations Manager across the conglomerates, handling Supply chain management, international trade strategies, logistics, Risk, Credit and auditing, Oil and Gas, IT, general consultancy, and Media Relations.
He has an MBA in Global Business with CASS Europe, Bachelors in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, (KNUST), HND in Estate Management (Kumasi Technical University), Certificate in Land Economy, and Certificate in Challenges of Global Poverty-Food Economics through the Edx forum with Massachusset Institutes of Technology (MIT) USA.
Hamza Suhuyini, Esq.
Head of Research and Advocacy
Hamza Suhuyini is a passionate policy advocate and the Head of Research and Advocacy of ICEG.
He has significant experience in policy advocacy, formulation and implementation, having worked with the government of Ghana and the private sector. He served as Board Member of the Ghana Roadfund Management Board and was instrumental in the monitoring and evaluation of periodic and routine road maintenance by the various road agencies in Ghana. He also served as aide to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and subsequently the Minister for Roads and Highways of Ghana between 2014 and 2017.
As a national service requirement, Hamza worked with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation as Corporate affairs officer. Prior to this, he served as the National President of the National Union of Ghana students where he advocated for better educational standards in Ghana. He has worked with various organisations in the United Kingdom including the Climate change unit of the Scotland based Sociovestix Labs, a socially motivated enterprise.
His research interests includes, the political economy of ESG, resource governance and ESG governance frameworks.
Hamza Suhuyini was called to the Bar of England and Wales and holds an LLM(BPC) in Corporate Social Responsibility/ESG and Environmental law, and GDL in Law from the University of Law, London. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Greenhill College, Ghana, M.A in International Political Economy from King’s College, London, B.A in Political Science with Linguistics from the University of Ghana and Teachers Certificate ‘A’ in Education from Tamale College of Education, Ghana.
Dr. Gazali Issahaku
Head of Climate Change & Food Security
Holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Kiel, Germany. A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Food Security and Climate Change of the University for Development Studies, with over eight years’ experience in teaching, skills development and research, as well as more than fifteen (15) research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
He served as a Post-Doctoral researcher with the Centre for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn and a member of the Scientific Group of UN Food Systems Summit. His research focuses on climate-smart agricultural technology adoption and impacts on welfare and other policy outcomes, including food and nutrition security, sustainable land management and environmental efficiency. Dr. Issahaku has worked in different projects, which sought to enhance water and energy security, as well as the provision of ecosystem services, and conservation agriculture. He was part of the research team that successfully implemented WACDEP and RESULTS projects in vulnerable communities, particularly in the Upper East and West regions of Ghana.
He is currently the socio-economist in the UDS Team of the SUSTIN-AFRICA project. He has also consulted for GIZ, Ghana, on the returning Expert project.
Kwesi Yamoah Abaidoo
Head of Climate Finance and Energy Transition
Kwesi Yamoah Abaidoo is a Chartered Energy Economist with research interest in sustainable energy, energy resource management, energy transition and climate change. Prior to joining our team, he worked as the Lead Research Consultant for Streamfield Research Consult. He holds MSc degree in Economics (Energy and Natural Resources), MSc. Wasilatu Yakubu
Head of Administration and HR
Wasilatu Yakubu is an office Administration professional with experience in Human Resource management.
Wasilatu has worked and volunteered in the past with government agencies, educational institutions and private organisations in the UK.
She has worked at the University of East London as Administrative clearing desk and enrolment officer and has also worked with the Southwark council Young Pilgrims(SYP) programme.
Wasilatu holds B.A in Tourism management from the University of Kent with modules in global environmental studies, sustainability and Human resource management.
Wasilatu believes organisational objectives are better served with inspired employees and high quality administrative standards.
Dominic Nsor
Head of Finance
Dominic Nsor is a Ghanaian born Dutch with deep knowledge in finance and administration and active player in the basic core of new age digital financial systems. Prior to joining Arneg, he worked with Price Waterhouse and coopers, Postnl and Mediahuis and has immeasurable experience in organisational budgeting and financing.
He studied Bsc. International Business administration and specialized in accounting, finance and taxation at Virje Universiteit van Amsterdam. He also holds MSc in Accounting and Control from the same university. He is a certified chartered accountant and bookkeeper.
Eric Nii Amu Okotokata Dodoo-Amoo (PhD)
Consultant
Eric Nii Amu Okotokata Dodoo-Amoo (PhD) is a Senior Economist with over 10years working experiences at the Ministry of Finance and currently heads the Office of the Director, External Resource Mobilization and Economic Relation Division (ERMERD).
Eric provides technical support in drafting economic partnership agreements and concept notes on trade and investment between Ghana and development partners, technical support in the formulation of development cooperation policies and agreements that properly align external assistance to national priorities, as well as facilitating the implementation and management of Projects and Programs under the Office of the Director, ERMERD to ensure the effective utilization of Development Partner funds to achieve development outcomes.
Eric also has extensive working experiences covering structuring concessional finance for Government projects, credit risk assessment of State-owned enterprises and investor relations as well as a deep understanding of Government machinery and policies.
He also has over eight years additional working experiences covering military and banking working environments, where he constantly demonstrated his ability to formulate and implement strategies to meet strict deadlines and targets.
Eric holds a PhD in Theoretical Economics, M.A in International Economics, M.A in Economic Policy Management and a B.A in Economics and Law.
His interest in global development and research includes International Economic Cooperation, Climate Financing, Development Financing Institutions, Trade and Investment Cooperation, New Structural Economics, Economic Partnerships and Rural Economics.
Khiddir Iddris
Head of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)
Khiddir Iddris is a dynamic and motivated professional with a demonstrated experience in the full range of research, monitoring, evaluation and learning, project management, analytical techniques, data analytics, social development, governance, decentralisation, renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, and agribusiness ecosystem. Khiddir has worked extensively as a development planner, research, monitoring and evaluation specialist/consultant with local and international agencies including GIZ E-waste programme, BudgIT Ghana, Advocacy Initiative for Development (AID), Kali Etch Foundation, and had served as the projects and operations lead for the Cocoa Rehabilitation Programme between the Ghana Cocoa Board and the MMA Group at the Bekwai Cocoa district. He has also contributed to the development plans of Tolon and Zabzugu District Assemblies from 2015-2017 and as well contributed to the successful implementation of the Resiliency in Northern Ghana (RING) project in the Tolon district funded by the USAID.
He is a DAAD scholar currently pursuing a bi-national supervised PhD (Geography and Resource Development) with the University of Ghana and University of Kassel, Germany. He holds an MPhil, Development Studies from the University of Cape Coast, BSc. Planning from the University for Development Studies and a Professional in Software Engineer from IPMC Technology, Ghana. Sufiyan N-YO
Head of Energy & ESG frameworks
Sufiyan N-YO is a Sustainability & ESG Stewardship data research analyst currently employed at Sociovestix Labs in the UK. In his current work, he has gained a wealth of experience in collecting, processing, and analyzing ESG Stewardship data from the Stewardship & Impact reports of some of the top Asset Managers and Asset Owners globally. With a solid background in Electrical Engineering and extensive research experience, Sufiyan brings a wealth of knowledge to the field. Prior to joining Sociovestix Labs, Sufiyan worked as a research engineering assistant in the Electrical Engineering and Sustainability department at Loyola University in Spain.
During this time, his research focused on developing control systems for a prototype Autonomous Surface Vehicle designed to monitor and measure greenhouse gases in a polluted river in Paraguay. This experience has fueled Sufiyan’s passion for Renewable Energy and Sustainability, specifically in the areas of Renewable Energy Sources Integration, Mini-Grids, Smart grids, Electric vehicle recharging systems, Energy Efficiency, and Renewable Energy for Developing Countries.
With a strong dedication to sustainability, Climate Change and a mission to promote the transition to sustainable energy sources, Sufiyan is well-equipped to make significant contributions to the field of Renewable Energy Systems and Sustainability.
Sufiyan is currently preparing to start his PhD in Energy and Sustainability at De Montfort University’s Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development in the United Kingdom. He holds an MSc in Control Systems Engineering from the University of Grenoble Alpes in France, an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Turkey, and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Hassan I University in Morocco.
